Podcast on Content MarketingRecently, I was interviewed by Stephen Lahey for a podcast on Stephen Lahey’s SmallBusinessTalent.com. During the 25-minute conversation, we talked about The Truth About Content Marketing for Solopreneurs.

Here’s what we talked about.

What is content marketing?

It’s a very hot term right now, but it’s something that experts have been doing for years. Listen in to hear about the history of content marketing and why it’s such a powerful tool for social media, SEO and establishing yourself as a thought leader.

Should you have an e-newsletter, a blog, or both?

As a small business owner, you want to use your time really efficiently. Understanding the potential benefits of each of these tools and how to use them together is critical. Steve and I discuss the merits of each platform and how to drive engagement and repurpose content.

How does search and social connect with content marketing?

The benefit of creating great content is that it can help you position your brand and market your business at same time. Listen to the podcast to understand why content marketing is effective at improving SEO and can help you improve your social media engagement.

How can you create content without wasting time?

Content marketing is effective, but it definitely takes time. Steve and I both shared a lot of great tips during the twenty-minute podcast on how to make the most of any content you write: to increase web site traffic, to entice people to sign up for your e-newsletter, to increase trust and to get more leads and increase business.

The podcast is available as a free recording at the Small Business Talent web site.

@Ryan, yes I think a blog and e-newsletter are both worth the effort. It’s not twice the work, but it can be 2x+ time the return.
